Traderie, an in-game trading marketplace, is reporting a data breach that has compromised their users personal information. This online platform, owned by the U.S. based Akrew, facilitates the trading and selling of in-game items across various popular titles like Roblox, Rocket League, Diablo, and Elden Ring.
Apparently the company experienced a "security incident" that allowed an unauthorized third-party to access "some data from your account." This breach also had repercussions for Akrew's Nookazon website, which permits gamers to trade and sell in-game items within the Animal Crossing: New Horizons universe.
The report from Traderie did not specify the exact user data that had been accessed or the number of individuals affected by this security breach.
Traderie's privacy policy reveals that the platform collects personally identifiable information, encompassing email addresses, Discord and Twitter usernames, as well as log data such as IP addresses and browser information. Traderie prides itself on connecting "millions" of video game players from all corners of the globe.
On BreachForums, a well-known hacking forum that recently resurfaced, a user claiming to be a victim has offered to sell the data stolen from Traderie for $5,000 in bitcoin. According to this individual, up to 2.6 million Traderie users may have been affected, and the compromised information includes
- email addresses,
- IP addresses,
- online identifiers for various services such as Discord, TikTok, Roblox, Xbox Live, Apple, Google, and more.
Furthermore, the post on BreachForums alleges that the stolen data includes certain Stripe information, a payment processing platform utilized by Traderie for payments, including customer IDs and subscription statuses.
