The Star Entertainment Group, an Australian casino giant, reports it's being impacted by the cybersecurity incident at the law firm HWL Ebsworth.

In a breach last year, Russian hackers accessed and acquired millions of documents from HWL Ebsworth, affecting a massive amount of companies and government institutions in Australia. HWL Ebsworth, which is recognized as Australia's largest legal partnership, experienced the theft of approximately 2.5 million documents by a Russia-affiliated hacker group known as ALPHV or BlackCat.

Star Entertainment reoirts that they have had some of its guests' information compromised in the attack. Star Entertainment has been cooperating with HWL Ebsworth to ensure that impacted individuals are notified and receive the necessary support.

Star Entertainment reassured its clientele and stakeholders that its own systems were not compromised by the incident. This situation unfolds amid other challenges faced by the casino operator, including undergoing a second independent inquiry regarding its eligibility to retain its Sydney casino license.
