Transak USA LLC is reporting a data breach affecting 23,113 consumers. Transak is a financial technology company that specializes in fiat-to-crypto payment gateway solutions.
On September 23, 2024, Transak, Inc. (the parent company of Transak USA LLC) was contacted by a hacker who claimed to have accessed and acquired confidential information stored on the company's IT network. The information was reportedly stored on a server hosted by an unnamed third-party provider.
Transak launched an investigation which confirmed that the hacker had obtained an employee's login credentials, which were then used to access and exfiltrate sensitive information. The unauthorized access occurred between September 1, 2024, and September 11, 2024.
Transak did not disclose the types of exposed data.
The company has sent personalized data breach notification letters to affected individuals, which should provide specific details about what information was compromised in each case.
This is a second incident impacting Transak in six months, with the previous one reported in October 2024 and caused by a phishing attack on an employee.
