UK Royal Family official site hit by Denial of Service attack

Learn More

The official website of the Royal Family has come under a cyber attack, identified as a denial of service attack (DDoS). The attack involves an overwhelming amount of traffic directed towards the website, thereby overloading its servers and disrupting its normal functioning.

As of Sunday lunchtime, the royal website was accessible, but it was subjecting users to additional security checks before granting them access to the site. This means that a filtering system like Cludflare has been activated to prevent DDoS attacks.

However, earlier in the day, visitors to the Royal.uk site were met with an error message, preventing them from accessing the website.

The entity behind the attack is not known, but available information clarifies that it was not a hack and did not result in unauthorized access to the website's systems or content.

A group named Killnet, allegedly associated with Russian hackers, claimed responsibility for the attack through a post on their Telegram channel. However, this claim has not been officially confirmed.
