United Medical Centers (UMC Health), a Texas-based healthcare services provider, reports a data breach resulting from a cyberattack to their IT network. United Medical Centers operates nine locations in Texas, including Eagle Pass, Del Rio, and Brackettville, offering a range of healthcare services like pediatrics, OB/GYN, ENT, family medicine, internal medicine, podiatry, and dental services, along with in-house services like laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and family planning.

The attack, first detected on July 26, 2023, was followed by a thorough investigation with the help of cybersecurity specialists. By September 2, 2023, it was determined that patient information might have been compromised.

The types of sensitive consumer information accessed during the breach include:

  • Dates of birth
  • Mailing addresses
  • Social Security numbers
  • Diagnosis and treatment information
  • Health insurance information

Per the information, the attack exposed the data of 127,000 people. The exact cause of the UMC Health data breach has not been fully disclosed,
