Ventia, a critical infrastructure services provider, announced that it had taken certain systems offline as a response to a cyberattack. Ventia is responsible for delivering management, maintenance, and operational services to critical infrastructure organizations and private entities in sectors such as defense, energy and water supply and environmental services in Australia and New Zealand.

In the incident notice, Ventia disclosed their decision to disconnect key systems in order to contain the ongoing cyberattack.

Ventia stated that their operations are functioning while they diligently monitor their network for any signs of abnormal activity. They anticipate that normal operations will resume within the next few days.

It is speculated that the involvement of file-encrypting ransomware could be a possibility. Taking systems offline is a common incident response measure to prevent the spread of ransomware. It remains unknown whether any data was compromised or stolen during the attack.
