Amergis Healthcare Staffing, formerly known as Maxim Healthcare Staffing, is reporting a data breach.

The incident, which affected 11,329 individuals was caused by an unauthorized access to company email accounts through external hacking on February 6, 2024. The breach was detected the same day it occurred.

After discovering the unauthorized activity, Amergis secured the compromised accounts, implemented remediation measures, and engaged third-party security experts. The breach compromised personal information of affected individuals, though specific details about the types of personal data exposed were not disclosed.

While the breach occurred in February, consumer notifications weren't issued until November 29 2024. The company officially filed its breach notice with the Maine attorney general's office on December 7.
