Behavioral Health Resources (BHR), a nonprofit mental healthcare provider based in Olympia, Washington, is reporting a data breach. BHR provides mental health and substance use treatment services across western Washington through outpatient clinics, school-based programs, and community outreach initiatives.
On November 20, 2024, the organization detected suspicious activity within its computer network. The investigation with assistance from external cybersecurity experts revealed that an unauthorized actor had gained access to portions of BHR's computer network, compromising sensitive consumer information. The compromised sensitive information includes:
- Names
- Social Security numbers
- Addresses
- Biometric data
- Medical information
- Financial account information
- Health insurance information
- Full-face photographs
- Dates of birth
- Electronic signatures
The natire of the attack and the number of affected individuals is not disclosed.
BHR has begun notifying affected individuals through data breach notification letters.
