Hackers infiltrated a plastic surgery clinic in Beverly Hills, California, and exposed sensitive data, including nude photographs, on the internet.

No details are available as to the nature of the attack or the number of affected individuals

The clinic, owned by Dr. Gary Motykie, reported to the authorities that it began receiving threats of extortion in May. The hackers demanded a payment of $2.5 million from Dr. Motykie to prevent the public release of the clinic's private data.

Starting in June, the leaked data began surfacing online, and it consisted of:

  • topless pictures of patients
  • names,
  • dates of birth,
  • email addresses,
  • phone numbers,
  • financial details.

Even private images of Dr. Motykie himself were among the compromised data. At least one affected patient has taken legal action against Dr. Motykie, claiming negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Dr. Motykie released a statement acknowledging the situation, confirming that the responsible third-party demanded money in exchange for deleting the information. However, Dr. Motykie and law enforcement are unable to guarantee that any payment will result in the data being deleted or prevent its future use. He also expressed the clinic's lack of control over the third party's actions and any misinformation being spread, further complicating the investigation.
