Clay County, Indiana, is hit by a cyberattack that is suspected to be a ransomware attack affecting various county operations.
The attack has significantly impacted county operations, leading to the closure of all Clay County Courthouse offices and the Clay County Health Department.
The county's IT department detected unauthorized activity early on the 9th of July 2024, shortly after midnight. They the compromised systems to contain the attack and have involved law enforcement and relevant government agencies in their investigation.
At this time, the County claims that there is no evidence to suggest personal data has been compromised.
The County Highway Department, the Clay County Extension Office, and the WIC office remain open. Individuals with scheduled court appearances on Tuesday or Wednesday are instructed to call the court on Thursday for rescheduling details. Further instructions will be provided in a press release if the courthouse remains closed on Thursday.
