CFCU is a financial institution providing a range of services, including checking and savings accounts, credit cards, loans, and mortgages. It operates 22 locations throughout Oklahoma.
The breach occurred between December 31, 2023, and January 11, 2024. CFCU detected suspicious activity on January 11, 2024, and secured its systems, working with external cybersecurity experts to investigate the breach and determine the impact on the confidential information.
The breach involved access to files containing sensitive consumer information, including:
- names,
- birthdates,
- addresses,
- driver’s license numbers,
- Social Security numbers,
- financial information.
The nature of the attack and the number of affected individuals are not disclosed.
CFCU sent data breach notification letters to all affected individuals on August 12, 2024.
