Florida Community Health Centers (FCHC) is reporting a data breach following a cyber incident where hackers accessed confidential information in FCHC’s possession. FCHC provides primary care, behavioral health, chiropractic, dental care, OB/GYN, and other healthcare services.
After detecting suspicious activity, FCHC engaged third-party cyber security experts to investigate the breach. Initially, FCHC found no evidence of unauthorized access on September 7, 2023, but a finding no evidence of . However, on subsequent investigation on October 12, 2023, concluded that hackers were able to gain access to the company’s computer network. The breach allowed unauthorized parties to access sensitive consumer information.
FCHC has not publicly specified the types of information that were exposed, the number of affected individuals or the nature of the attack.
After concluding its investigation, FCHC began notifying all affected individuals. The personalized notification letters sent to affected individuals should detail what specific information was compromised.
Update - as of 3rd of July 2024, Florida Community Health Centers (FCHC) is reporting that the attack has impacted approximately 300,000 individuals.
