A hacker identity known as 'IntelBroker' has alleged acybersecurity involving an entity called ECB on the dark web forum BreachForums. While first reading of the acronym associates with the European Central Bank, it's actually a cricket club.

The Cyber Express has conducted an analysis of the sample data and the information seems to pertain to a cricket organization or club, suggesting that the breach may have affected the official website of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ecb.co.uk), impacting around 43,000 users. This dataset is reported to include various details such as email addresses, hashed passwords, dates of registration, and last activity recorded between 2014 and 2020.

The hacker is reportedly selling a database containing sensitive user data, spanning the years 2014 to 2021. The databas is claimed to contain:

  • email addresses,
  • hashed passwords,
  • backup passwords,
  • tokens.

No details are disclosed about the nature of the attack. Despite the detailed claims, there has yet to be any official confirmation from the ECB (the club, not the bank) regarding the breach.
