LCS Financial Services debt collectors report data breach

LCS Financial Services, a debt collection agency based in Centennial, Colorado reported a data breach as a result of a successful intrusion by hackers into the company's computer system. This unauthorized access granted the hackers the ability to acquire sensitive consumer information.

The unusual activity within LCS's computer network was first detected on February 25, 2023, prompting the company to take immediate action to secure their network and report the incident to the FBI. Cybersecurity experts were then engaged to aid in the investigation process.

The investigation confirmed that the unauthorized access occurred on February 24, 2023, with confidential consumer information being among the accessed files. It was discovered that the hackers had extracted data from the network. LCS Financial Services, upon realizing the breach, reviewed compromised files to determine the extent of the leaked information and the consumers impacted.
