The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), a state-owned pension fund in the Philippines, confirmed that it is investigating a cybersecurity breach in its systems.

The breach occurred when a local threat actor compromised the administrator account of one of its computers. The breach was reported on Thursday at 5:12 p.m. when GSIS received an alert from its security partner. The local threat actor responsible for the breach shared information about the incident on their Facebook page. The compromised system was identified as a test computer containing dummy data used for testing purposes, not actual member or employee data.

GSIS has taken the affected computer offline and is actively investigating the breach to determine its extent.

GSIS assured its employees, members, and pensioners that the protection of their information remains a top priority and stated that it is implementing measures to secure its systems and information.
