Scam SMS messages offering Scam Recovery sent globally
Take action: Never trust unexpected messages. There is no such thing as "scam recovery" service. Real law firms don't spam people, and they are not registered with the FBI. If you've been scammed before and want legal help, research licensed attorneys through the state bar association's official website, not through random text messages.

A fraud distributed through SMS messages claims to be "FBI-registered legal services" and is offering recovery of funds from other scams. The criminals are attempting to steal personal information and money by targeting individuals who have previously been victims of scams.

The variant that was reported is a message in English, stating:
"Hallo! Scam recovery experts. Dawn Intl Law Firm (FBI-registered) fights for you. 97% win rate. Free consultation. Text us.."
Red flags:
- The grammar is poor with "Hallo!" instead of "Hello" ,
- a law firm doesn't send SMS messages to offer services,
- the claim of being "FBI-registered" is meaningless - the FBI doesn't register private law firms,
- the 97% win rate claim is meaningless, legal practices don't advertise performance statistics,
- the message contains no verifiable contact information, physical address, or website.
The attackers are attempting to:
- Get personal information for sale or identity theft - Names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses
- Get financial details for sale or identity theft - Bank account information, credit card numbers, social security numbers
- Steal money through fake administrative, legal, court and retainer fees
- Install malware through sending a fake "evidence collection" software
This vector of scam recovery fraud is effective because victims who have been previously scammed are often desperate to recover their losses and may be more susceptible to promises of help. The "free consultation" lowers the barrier to initial contact, and the authority claim of FBI registration exploits trust in law enforcement.
How to stay safe:
- Don't trust unexpected messages
- Don't respond - Law firms don't offer services via spam texts
- Verify independently - Research any legal services through official licensing associations and official websites
- Never pay upfront fees - Real lawyers typically work on contingency for recovery cases or bill after services
- Be extra cautious after being scammed - Recovery scams specifically target previous scam victims who are listed in criminal databases
