SoutheastHEALTH warns of data breach via a former vendor
Take action: Why would a former supplier still hold on to customer data? Never do that, because a subsequent data breach will expose you to even more problems.

SoutheastHEALTH has issued a release regarding a potential data breach involving their former billing vendor, ITX (Intellihartx).
Patients of SoutheastHEALTH have received a letter from ITX notifying them of the potential security issue.
The breach did not occur within SoutheastHEALTH's IT infrastructure, but rather from ITX, with whom SoutheastHEALTH no longer has a business relationship. Intellihartx was impacted by the GoAnywhere Managed File Transfer vulnerability attack.
A data breach in a former supplier indicates that the customer data was not properly purged, which will become a big issue in itself.
The breach potentially exposed personal information such as
- names,
- addresses,
- medical billing
- insurance information,
- medical details,
- demographic information.
TX has not confirmed notifying SoutheastHEALTH about the breach, which is required under the HIPAA Breach Notification Rule.
The number of affected individuals by the data breach is not available.
SoutheastHEALTH advises affected patients to follow the directions provided in the letter, and ITX can be contacted for more information.
