Tata Technologies, an engineering and digital transformation service provider, is reporting a ransomware incident through an official filing to the National Stock Exchange of India Limited, in compliance with stock regulations.
The ransomware attack affected several IT assets within the organization, leading to a temporary suspension of certain IT services as a precautionary measure. The company claims to have successfully restored these services and that their client delivery services remained fully functional and unaffected throughout the incident.
The types of data potentially compromised, how the cyber-attack was executed and the specific systems affected is not disclosed.
Tata Technologies has started an investigation in consultation with security experts to determine the root cause of the incident and implement necessary remedial actions.
Update - as of 3rd of March 2025, the Hunters International ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the cyberattack. According to the threat actors, they successfully exfiltrated 1.4TB of data, comprising approximately 730,000 files from the company's systems.
The gang has threatened to release all stolen files within one week if their ransom demands are not met. However, they have not posted any samples of the allegedly stolen files or provided details about the types of documents they possess.
