Two U.S. banks, USAA Bank and the Bank of Clarke, are reporting data breaches impacting tens of thousands of customers.

USAA Bank Data Breach reports that a system error occurred during a routine update to USAA Bank's document delivery system, which led to customer documents being inadvertently sent to the wrong accounts. The incident happened on April 13, 2024, but was not discovered until July 31, 2024.

Approximately 32,276 customers who use USAA's property and casualty insurance products.

USAA has stated that there is no evidence yet that the exposed information has been misused.

Bank of Clarke reports that an unknown and unauthorized third party accessed one of the bank’s employee email accounts. The breach occurred on June 17, 2024, and was discovered on July 17, 2024.

Approximately 1,652 customers are affected.

While the bank has not specified the types of personal information compromised, it confirmed that customer names were exposed and potentially other sensitive information contained in emails.

The bank is still investigating the extent of the breach and has not publicly disclosed further details about the nature of the data compromised.
