Ukrainian military intelligence, in coordination with hacktivist groups, has executed a cyberattack against Gaskar Group, one of Russia's largest military drone suppliers. The operation is claimed by Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) working alongside the Ukrainian Cyber Alliance and BO Team (Black Owl).
The hackers gained access to Gaskar Group's network and server infrastructure, then stole data and crippled 250 systems, including 46 virtual servers and more than 200 workstations The claimed compromised data includes:
- Complete technical documentation on drone production and design specifications
- 47 terabytes of technical information related to Russian drone manufacturing
- 10 terabytes of backup files and redundant systems
- Source code for drone-related software and systems
- Confidential employee questionnaires and personnel records
- Personal data of Gaskar Group employees, including home addresses and family information
- Intelligence revealing cooperation between Gaskar Group and Chinese manufacturers in drone production and specialist training
Ukraine's military intelligence agency claims that the operation had paralyzed Gaskar's accounting systems, production software and internet infrastructure. Ukrainian officials believe the cyberattack may have halted production lines and destroyed technical documentation and personnel files, with the extent of damage potentially taking months to recover from.
In a statement to Russian news channel EG, Gaskar Group said there had been "an attempted attack" on the company but that it continues to operate normally and its facilities have not stopped working. The company has not provided detailed responses to multiple media inquiries regarding the claims made by the Ukrainian cyber groups.
