The University of Hawaiʻi has confirmed that Hawaiʻi Community College (Hawaiʻi CC) was targeted in a ransomware attack.

Representatives from Hawaiʻi CC are actively collaborating with federal authorities and cybersecurity experts.

On Tuesday, June 13, the cybersecurity incident was reported to the Hawaiʻi CC campus shortly after the University of Hawaiʻi became aware of the situation.

In response, UH System Information Technology Services promptly took the Hawaiʻi CC network offline and implemented additional measures to safeguard all UH networks.

The University did not provide any details of the nature of the attack, the attackers or the impacted data and individuals. UH will not issue further details while the investigation is ongoing.

The group claiming responsibility for the attack exclusively targeted Hawaiʻi CC and UH cybersecurity experts currently believe that other UH campuses have not been affected. As the investigation is ongoing, no further comments will be provided at this time.
