Vermont Department of Financial Regulation impacted by MOVEit related data breach

The Vermont Department of Financial Regulation issued an official report revealing a data breach encompassed personally identifiable data of these Vermont residents. The data of 42,000 individuals from Vermont is impacted.

The breach itself stemmed from a ransomware group that managed to breach the security of the MOVEit file transfer software, which is employed by various public and private organizations across the United States, both at a local and national level and operated by multiple third party providers.

For those affected, particularly Vermonters, the majority have already received notifications regarding the breach through mailed letters issued by a third-party entity called PBI Research Services, Inc., which has been instrumental in managing this situation.
