Advisor Group broker-dealers report data breach cascading from the R.R. Donneley event

Advisor Group, a large network of financial advisors, has reported a data breach involving private client data, including Social Security numbers.

The breach occurred due to a systems intrusion at R.R. Donnelley, a third-party vendor used by Advisor Group for client mailings. The original data breach in R.R. Donnelley occurred in January, but the knock-on effects are still lasting, much like the Fortra GoAnywhere hack

The company has taken steps to address the issue and enhance data protection safeguards with the vendor, aiming to protect client information and ensure best practices are followed across vendor relationships.
