Per information from the Bristol Community College, over 56,000 individuals associated with the college were affected by a cyberattack in December 2022.

In December 2022, the cyberattack impacted college networks across all of BCC's campuses, located in Attleboro, Fall River, New Bedford, and Taunton. Although the cyberattack was first reported in early January, the school states that the breach itself — stated as "hacking" — was discovered and reported on April 10 after concluding investigation.

Their personal data were exposed, with the compromised information including names and potentially sensitive details such as social security numbers, dates of birth, driver's license numbers, and financial information.

While no identity fraud or improper use has been reported so far, the college has initiated individualized data breach notifications and is providing steps for affected individuals to protect themselves, including credit monitoring services.
