MoneyBlock, an online trading platform was hit by a cybersecurity incident that potentially compromised sensitive personal and financial information of thousands of clients. 

MoneyBlock is headquartered in the heart of Chicago's Financial District and is an online broker-dealer dedicated to servicing Registered Representatives, Investment Advisors, and Independent RIAs

The breach occurred on July 31, 2025 and was detected the same day. On August 7, 2025, the investigation confirmed that the attack may have stolen files containing sensitive personal and financial information. 

Exposed data includes:

  • Names
  • Addresses
  • Dates of birth
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver's license numbers
  • Passport numbers
  • Financial account information

The nature of the attack and the number of affected individuals has not been officially released by MoneyBlock, but sources indicate the number is believed to be in the thousands. Given that MoneyBlock serves financial professionals and their clients, this breach could potentially affect both investment advisors and the end clients whose information is managed through the platform.

MoneyBlock is offering impacted individuals 12 months of free credit monitoring services. The company will notify all affected individuals by mail with detailed information about what specific data was compromised in each case.
