The General Directorate of Information and Communication Technologies of the Paraguayan Armed Forces issued a detailed bulletin to all units, warning about a ransomware infection that has allegedly compromised its computer systems.
Initially marked with critical severity and a red alert status, the ransomware was noted for its potential to significantly impact various digital assets, including backups, web pages, email accounts, and cloud storage.
In its initial communication, the Directorate highlighted the ransomware's direct impact on over 300 companies linked to a local service provider.
In a subsequent update, the bulletin was revised, toning down the severity level to 'high'. This revised bulletin removed earlier references to the service provider. The latter version of the bulletin focuses on a more comprehensive explanation of the ransomware's modus operandi (encypting files, adding a ransom note), but doesn't provide more color on the impact it had on the armed forces.
