Shoe Show, Inc. reports a data breach after discovering that an unauthorized party had gained access to an employee’s email account. Founded in 1960, Shoe Show, Inc. is a North Carolina-based footwear retailer that operates over 1,200 stores across 47 states under various brand names, including Shoe Dept., Shoe Dept. Encore, Shoebilee!, Burlington Shoes, and Shoe Show Mega.

Following the breach, Shoe Show launched an investigation, working with external forensics experts to assess the extent of the exposure and secure the compromised email account​. The investigation revealed that the unauthorized party had access to the compromised account between June 28, 2024, and July 6, 2024, which included emails and attachments containing sensitive information.

The breach exposed data of estimated 12,856 individuals.

Although the specific types of exposed data were not disclosed in the public filing, Shoe Show sent data breach notification letters to affected individuals, detailing what information was compromised.
