Sovos Compliance LLC ("Sovos") reported a data breach on August 23, 2023, on behalf of several companies due to a critical vulnerability in the MOVEit file-transfer application used by Sovos. Sovos Compliance LLC, based in Wilmington, Massachusetts, is a financial software company.
The attack resulted in an unauthorized party gaining access to consumers' sensitive information, including names and Social Security numbers.
Sovos initiated an investigation and subsequently sent data breach notification letters to affected individuals.
PennyMac and Roundpoint have already reported data breaches caused by the Sovos MOVEit event.
Other organizations also impacted by the event are Allegis Group, Barrett Business Services Inc., Delta Dental of Iowa, GreenSky, and Midland States Bank.
Sovos Compliance serves as a vendor for these organizations, handling unclaimed property claims and accepting confidential data.
